July 27, 2022

Mr. Edmond L. Fordham '52 faithfully carried the torch for his beloved Alma Mater until his passing on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the age of 94. He was a long-time educator, impactful community member, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death, his loving and devoted wife of 67 years Tommie and his oldest daughter Paula. He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter Krista Fordham and three grandchildren Jamila, Kristina, and Edmond II.

"A constant presence on campus, Mr. Fordham rarely missed Alumni Reunions, Homecoming, and Founders' celebrations," commented President Cheryl Evans Jones. "He and his spouse Tommie were strong supporters of the Annual Fund Campaign and gave generously of their time and finances. We will miss Mr. Fordham greatly but his legacy will last for generations in Lion Nation."

"We feel the loss of Mr. Fordham throughout the College community," said Helene Carter, VP of Institutional Advancement. "Mr. Fordham and his late wife Tommie were devout Paineites who exhibited a deep passion for their Alma Mater. Upon my arrival at Paine in 2009, the Fordhams were the first to encourage me to go the distance and stay the course."
