Paine College Presidential Search

The Board of Trustees of Paine College, a church-related four-year, private historically black college of the liberal arts tradition has launched a national search for the College’s next President. Founded in 1882 and located in Augusta, Georgia, Paine College offers undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts, business administration, and education through residential, commuter, and off-site programs.

Paine College seeks a Transformational leader with the ability to develop, implement, assess and institutionalize strategic initiatives for sustainability and growth. This leader will be capable of initiating resourceful approaches to financial leadership and management.

Given the current challenges facing the College, the President will have a strong conceptual understanding of financial and operational documents that ensures knowledgeable oversight. Specifically, working closely with the offices of Institutional Advancement; Student Affairs; and Enrollment Services, while reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President will focus upon four primary objectives in the immediate term:

  • Fundraising
  • Student Recruitment and Enrollment Management
  • Regional Accreditation
  • Student Retention

While demonstrating comfort and proficiency in seeking gifts and grants from donors at all levels, this leader will understand the importance of partnerships that position the College for immediate increased stability and long-term growth.

A confident and perceptive leader who is able to make difficult, as well as effective and timely decisions and to pursue strategic courses of action, the president will work collaboratively with existing and newly-cultivated partners to advance the mission of Paine College. Together with the abilities to balance and prioritize, the President will possess the discernment and judgment to assess, modify, and find an intelligible path on which the College can pursue its mission and its goals.

The President will hold advanced degrees and/or have successful experiences in senior executive/academic positions that support preparation to lead Paine.
