The Paine College men's golf team was started in 2005 as the men’s golf club team under the direction of Ronnie O. Spry, former Athletic Director and Fred Summers, former Head Coach. Spry saw a need for a golf program at Paine College. In the College’s quest to provide another sport for NCAA II recognition, the golf program at Paine was born. Summers served as head coach from 2005-2008. Currently Hoover Johnson Jr. serves as head coach of the Paine Golf Team. Paine College is a part of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
