The Paine College Staff Association will host its Annual Pack the Pews Rally on Saturday, December 5th at 5:00 p.m. in the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel. Alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and students are invited to join the Pew Captains and their respective teams in a show of support with donations and Lion pride for the College. Pack the Pews will culminate the Christmas at Paine week of activities that commenced Thursday, December 3rd with a Christmas Caravan and Holiday Village in the Haygood Holsey Circle starting at 5 p.m. The annual holiday concert, featuring the Paine College Concert Choir under the direction of Professor R. Wayne Woodson, will take place on Friday, December 4th at 8:00 p.m.  All events are open to the public.

The Paine College Staff Association launched the Pack the Pews Rally on December 6, 2014 to support the Together, We Can Campaign for Paine that was designed to address the College’s operations and critical needs. The inaugural campaign activity garnered over $17,000.00 and has emerged as an annual fundraising event that is widely supported by the campus family and the CSRA community.  This year, the Pack the Pews Rally will support Build it Back: Rally for Paine College Campaign that was launched on November 10, 2015.

The organization’s president, Ms. Uzetta Gresham, said, “The Paine College Staff Association provides significant endorsement strength that can be seen, felt and heard throughout the campus and the community.” “The Staff Association also serves as an ambassador by linking the College with community constituents.”

Just three days prior the Pack the Pews Rally, Mrs. Jacqueline Connie, a thirteen-year employee who started out as a volunteer at Paine, reported $1,400 in support of the campaign initiative. Mrs. Connie assists the Campus Pastor and serves as co-director for the Wesley Fellowship. Serving as a Pew Captain, she is looking forward to rallying her family, friends and former students to pack her pew in support of the College on Saturday afternoon.  Affectionately called “Mom” by many of Paine’s students, she said, “I truly believe in Paine College and it makes it easier to carry out the Mission of the College when we know that the CSRA and surrounding communities believe in the Institution. It is critical that we keep our doors open and continue the legacy of providing a quality education to all who enter to learn.”

In existence for twenty-three years, the Paine College Staff Association is comprised of over 50 members who pay annual dues and render volunteer service in support of the organization’s mission that exemplifies the Paine Ideal, the Core Value of Service, and the College’s Strategic

Plan. “Service is at the core of our mission,” said Ms. Gresham. “The Staff Association has a history of supporting community initiatives and organizations such as Safe Homes of Augusta; , the Ronald McDonald House; , Master’s Table Soup Kitchen, and the University Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Miracle Mile Walk. This time, we’ve focused our attention on our home here at Paine College. This Institution has served many of us in numerous ways. Now, it is time for us to give back to the Institution that has given so much to us.”
