Paine College Presents: From The Stage To The Sanctuary – A Celebration of Black Music

On Sunday, March 15, 2015, the Paine College Concert Choir will present “From The Stage To The Sanctuary – A Celebration Of Black Music” at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel. Featured performers for the evening will include R. Wayne Woodson (Baritone), Beulah Grove Baptist Church Choir, Dr. Rosalyn Floyd, and the Paine College Concert Choir. 

The community is invited to attend. Local celebrity Jay Jeffries of NBC 26 will host the event.  Jay Jefferies has earned a reputation as one of Augusta's most accurate and entertaining Forecasters.

About the Performers:

R. Wayne Woodson is Director of Music for Paine College. An active performer, Woodson began his career as a member of the Morehouse College Glee Club, the Atlanta Opera Chorus and the Wendell P. Whalum Community Chorus. Under Dr. Woodson’s direction, the Paine College Concert Choir actively performs an extensive tour schedule across the United States.

Kevin Staley, Director of Beulah Grove Baptist Church Choir of Augusta, GA, has played alongside musical greats such as Brian McKnight and has toured with Alicia Keys to Yolanda Adams. He has recently released a recording which is garnering national attention.

Dr. Rosalyn Floyd is the accompanist for the Paine College Concert Choir. She is also a member of music faculty at Georgia Regents University. Dr. Floyd is best known as a collaborative artist, and has accompanied the world-renowned soprano Martino Arroyo, noted baritones Oral Moses and Timothy Jones, sopranos Linda Banister, Laquita Mitchell, and Levone Tobin Scott, and the Augusta Choral Society. Dr. Floyd's collaborative endeavors have taken her to many areas throughout the United States, the Bahamas, and the Peoples' Republic of China.
