Paine College Student Gains Success at Black College Quiz Bowl Show

(Augusta, GA) – The Ford Black College Quiz Bowl Show, sponsored by Ford Motor Company, will feature Paine College senior English major, Artis Collins III.  Collins will be featured as a contestant on the annual game show airing in Augusta, GA, on February 16th and 23rd at 2:00pm and 2:30pm on WJBF News Channel 6.   Collins, the son of Artis and Kathy Collins, is a native of Stone Mountain, GA.  

The quiz show series features HBCU College students from around the country showcasing their knowledge and skill of African-American history. This four-part, half-hour series has featured over 50 HBCU schools since its inception and awarded over $100,000 dollars in scholarships.  National syndication of the Black College Quiz Show launched in February 2007.

“The highlight of this experience was being able to perform before my parents,” said Collins, “I have been competing in academic competitions since grade school, and served as a member of the Quiz Bowl team all four years of my undergraduate career.”  Collins, upon graduating in May 2013, plans to pursue a Masters in Education and ultimately become a special education teacher.
