(AUGUSTA, GA) – Paine College President, Dr. George C. Bradley was recognized for his achievements in the field of education last week at the 15th Annual James H. Costen Awards Dinner. The awards dinner was held at the Westin Peachtree Plaza of Downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
This “Tribute to Excellence Awards” Ceremony not only recognizes excellence in the community, but it also celebrates the founding and charter of the Interdenominational Theological Center in addition to its 5th president, James H. Costen and those who model his example.
Dr. Costen, who retired as president of the Interdenominational Theological Center in 1997, was a prominent, effective leader and pastor in the Presbyterian Church. During the same year, an ad hoc committee was formed to create a fitting way to honor Dr. Costen for his leadership. The “James H. Costen Tribute to Excellence Awards” was established as a part of the 39th Charter Day Celebration of ITC in 1997. That year and each year hence, a committee has solicited nominations to recognize select community leaders for achievements in various areas.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized for my efforts in education”, stated Dr. Bradley, “I believe that education serves as a key vehicle for a thriving community and nation.”
During the ceremony others were recognized for their strides in fields such as business, government, religion, arts and entertainment, and civic and community affairs.
