Augusta, GA- Paine College will celebrate its 128th Commencement Convocation on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the William Bell Auditorium.
Stacey Brayboy will serve as the keynote speaker for the Commencement Convocation. Brayboy is the Director of Economic and Community Development for Rural Development at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she serves as a member of the Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food task force. In her position, she works with small communities across the country to meet economic development challenges, including local and regional food systems. She has experience in all levels of government extending over 13 years.
Brayboy most recently served as a member of the transition team for President Obama and Vice President Biden. Prior to joining the transition team, she worked on the Obama campaign as South Carolina and Virginia State Director during the primary campaign season. She also served as Deputy Director in Indiana and Virginia during the general election campaign. Prior to joining the Obama campaign, Brayboy served as the Deputy Director of the Virginia Council on Human Rights for the Commonwealth of Virginia. While living in Atlanta, Brayboy worked for U.S. Senator Sam Nunn and the City of Atlanta government. She served on the staffs of former South Carolina U.S. Senator Fritz Hollings, former Congressman Robin Tallon and current Sixth District Congressman James E. Clyburn.
Brayboy is a graduate of Francis Marion University and holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Clark Atlanta University.
